Introduction Synopsis Redraft
Black screen. Instrumental Middle Eastern music is faded in. The
voice of a news reporter becomes audible. It becomes louder. It’s about
the 9/11 attacks on the twin towers. Clips of the planes hitting the
towers are shown. Reporter’s voice is drowned out by that of sirens.
The ethnic music is still audible through the sirens. A fireman pulling
out the injured fades between two siblings, the boy younger than the
girl, but both in their teens, running down a street. Sound of sirens
is continued through the fade, but the ethnical music is faded out. The
two teenagers are both in normal clothing (jeans and t-shirts) however
the boy is wearing a Kufi (hats that Islamic men wear) and the girl is
wearing a Hijab (head covering that Islamic woman wear). We see the
younger sister trailing behind her brother as they run down the street.
The sound of sirens is now muffled, but is still present. The young
girl turns round and we see the expression of anxiety on her face. She
turns back and shouts ‘wait’ at her brother. The scene cuts to the
opening credits.
